We are interested in an ESD paint to be used on one of our plotter product lines. Should the paint be conductive or dissipative? Where can we buy the paint? -Anonymous
Answer
For general ESD Control practices for ESD susceptible electronics at the workstation, it is recommended to use dissipative surfaces as opposed to conductive surfaces as defined by the ESD Association. Our paint is technically dissipative with a surface resistivity of 10

ohms. For covering the floors with a conductive ESD floor treatment, such as paint, a surface resistance in the low dissipative or high conductive range is recommended. ANSI/ESD S7.1 recommends that the floor be less than 10^9 ohms @ 100 volts. To answer your specific question, I’d really need to know your application for use of the paint.
