Question
I have a question about static charge buildup on Polyethylene sheet material due to wind, dust, etc.... Please call to discuss the problem and potential materials to use to help reduce the risk. - Anonymous
Answer
This is more an industrial application and not really our specialty. In general, polyethylene has a much higher work function than most other materials which lends itself to tribocharging more negative relative to most other materials. Gas molecules will not charge materials, but rather the impurities (airborne dust, etc.) that have much more significant mass to tribocharge upon collision with another material (polyethylene).
