Question What is ANSI ESD-S7.1? - Anonymous, Rochester Hills, MI
Answer ANSI/ESD-S7.1-1994 is the ESD Association’s standard for Resistive Characterization of Materials specifically for Floor Materials. The Purpose of the Standard: This standard provides test methods for measuring the electrical resistance of floor materials used for the control of electrostatic charge or discharge. The standard provides test methods for the qualification of floor materials prior to their installation or application, as well as test methods for evaluating and monitoring floor materials after installation or application. The Scope of the Standard: This standard establishes test methods for measuring the electrical resistance of floor materials where protection of ESD susceptible items is required. The resistances considered here are measured from the top of the floor material to its ground connection and from top surface to top surface locations (RTT). The test methods established here are designed to measure floor material with resistance of 2.5x10^4 to 1.0x10^11.
